This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the first pre-production Land Rover and the Heritage Motor Centre plans to celebrate this special anniversary at its annual Heritage Land Rover Weekend, which takes place on the 3-4 May.
This two day show begins on Saturday (3 May) with the new Heritage 60th anniversary Special Vehicles Run. The show will be opened by BBC 2's radio presenter Lynne Bowles, who will be providing commentary throughout the show.
Highlights of the 60th celebration show include, 60th Land Rover Features - a static display of all the models from past to present, including the Heritage Motor Centre's own collection of historic vehicles. This display will be brought together for the first time and has never been seen on public display before. The show will include expedition talks, a trade and club village, interclub challenge, a milestone display of Land Rovers which gives an in-depth look at the history of the marque. Other features include outdoor activities with 4x4 off-road rides, Children's sports day, GO60 official start and the ever popular Land Rover World Twist Off.
Sunday morning (4 May) will start with the famous Heritage 60th Anniversary Classic Run - a cavalcade with over a hundred special classic Land Rovers from the Association of Land Rover Clubs, taking part in the annual Run from Land Rover in Solihull to the Centre at Gaydon. The Cavalcade will be led by the Heritage Motor Centre's oldest production Land Rover "Hue."
